Sustainability
Our homes are designed to last with an emphasis on durability, longevity and the natural environment. We design to allow for change as families grow/mature and needs change over time, with the aim of our homes being loved and adaptable for generations to come.
We approach each project from a ‘fabric-first’ perspective where we ensure that we are correctly insulating and adopting ‘passive’ measures such as providing natural daylighting, solar gain, rainwater attenuation, use of local materials and spaces for home-working.
On previous projects, we have also utilised biomass, ground source heat pump, air source heat pump and photovoltaic technology. On our more remote sites, we have been involved in the provision of potable water supplies using boreholes. Recent projects have made use of SIPS (Structural Insulated Panel System) which has the capacity for faster build times and better quality construction.

You can book to stay in this extended and renovated listed cottage to experience first-hand some of our design thinking, such as double-height living, mezzanine floors, glass-to-glass corner windows and biomass heating.
