This existing listed cottage in Aldochlay on the banks of Loch Lomond was originally home to Paterson Gordon Architecture and showcases our own design and self-build skills! The existing dwelling was a small one-bed home with limited natural daylight. We extended the property to create a four bedroom family home with abundant space, natural light and an environmentally-friendly biomass heating system. We have been careful to respect the existing dwelling form and materials and our design aims to provide a modern complimentary addition. We built the extension ourselves, with a little help from friends and family and this has given us valuable insight to the construction process through the eyes of the client and the contractor.

We recently started offering this cottage for holiday stays. You can book to stay in this extended and renovated listed cottage to experience first-hand some of our design thinking, such as double-height living, mezzanine floors, glass-to-glass corner windows and biomass heating.
